MARTIN
LUTHER
"My music is just soul
music, but I attach rebel to it because my music is
revolutionary. I want you to evolve from your day-to-day thinking
that most music being played on the radio doesn't encourage or
inspire you to do. Therefore my music has some sort of rebellious
attitude about it."
-Martin Luther
Deep in the heart of San Francisco's Funk Rock
Movement lives a soul brotha by the name of Martin Luther who has
been anointed with the gift of funk and baptized in rock and soul
and waits patiently as the next heir to the musical throne. His
eclectic musical ear is reflected in his poignant, organic, heart-core
music especially prepared to fuel the spirit. Martin's music is
not lost among the pantheon of new crooners, but instead invokes
the spirits of legendary composers-singers such as Jimi Hendrix,
Janis Joplin, Donny Hathaway, Prince, Sly and the Family Stone,
Miles Davis, James Brown, Etta James, Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder.
The energy in his gospel-flavored voice has
the ability to explore a range of emotions as well as transfix audiences
from every corner of the planet. Martin Luther's self written and
co-produced sophomore effort, Rebel Soul Music on
Goodvibe Records, offers the simple gifts of life -- the
gift of love, the gift of redemption, the gift of hope and the gift
of freedom.
Martin Luther's independently released debut
album, The Calling (Beyond Entertainment), was a solid
induction into the music world, receiving critical acclaim throughout
the country. He soon found himself on a multi city tour entertaining
crowds at capacity-filled venues such as the House of Blues as well
as performing on HBO's The Chris Rock Show. Because of Martin Luther's
vocal and lyrical prowess, he has shared the stage with the industry's
glitterati including George Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic, Jill
Scott, The Roots, Saul Williams, Eric Benet, Cody Chestnutt, Medusa,
Cherokee and Dwayne Wiggins (formerly of Tony Toni Tone') to
name a few. In addition, Martin Luther is a music producer who continues
to support the Bay Area underground music scene.
Soul, Funk, R&B, Jazz, Gospel and Rock &
Roll are all whipped into this revolutionary series of hit song
after hit song. A true rebirth of soul-tingling and quality music
is what Martin Luther has poetically done with Rebel Soul
Music. It's a humble throw forward to the yesteryear musical
legends that are engrained in the fiber of American Music today.
He celebrates that energy. That deep soul, message-oriented, funk,
upbeat, melodic and rhythmic energy. He's the alternative choice
to the musical machine of force-fed radio and club music.
